Contactless Library Services Continue Under New State Restrictions

On Sunday, November 15, Governor Jay Inslee announced new state COVID-19 restrictions (PDF). Libraries are not affected by these changes.

The King County Library System continues to follow current state guidance. Contactless services include Curbside to Go holds pickup, book returns, and printing pickup. These are available at select libraries.

Exterior lockers at Bothell and Covington libraries offer 24/7 pickup of items on hold.

Since March 2020, all online resources have been available to patrons. This includes the full digital collection, learning resources, and virtual events and programs.

The Washington State Safe Start plan (PDF) was last updated on October 6. It permits libraries to provide limited in-building services. In the current phase 2, occupancy cannot exceed 25% of building capacity.

We are working on plans and protocols to accommodate this recent change. The health and safety of our staff and visitors is our top priority as we develop our reopening plans.

Patrons can expect to see:

  • Modified operations at some or all library buildings with limited hours, services and access to technology.
  • Masks, physical distancing and health protocols remaining in place.
  • Curbside to Go and online services and programming continuing through all phases.

More details and dates will be announced when plans are finalized.
