OverDrive Will Limit Android Support to Version 7.1.1 and Later On April 15

OverDrive is a library vendor that provides digital reading services. Through OverDrive, you can check out eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, and magazines. You can also stream movies and series. OverDrive supports mobile access to digital books through the Libby app. They support mobile streaming on the Kanopy app

On April 15, OverDrive will perform an update. The update will provide security improvements. Users with Android Operating Systems (OS) 7.1.0 or earlier need to:  

  • update their operating system or 
  • switch devices to use OverDrive.

Can I still stream video from Kanopy if I don’t update to Android OS 7.1.1 or later?
Yes. You can stream video from OverDrive with a web browser at https://kcls.kanopy.com. You will not be able to use the Kanopy app.
