What happens if I lose or damage something I checked out?

You’ll be charged a fee for replacement or repair of lost or damaged materials. For items lost or damaged due to fire or flood, staff can give you a printout of the items’ values for filing an insurance claim. We won’t hold you responsible for stolen items when documented by a police report.

If an item (book, DVD, CD, etc.) is lost, you will be required to pay the replacement cost of the item.

If you find the item within 12 months of the date it was paid for, you can get a refund by bringing the item and the receipt to any KCLS library. We refund the cost of the item, less any late fees or damage charges.
