Five brown buns in the baker's shop (hold up 5 fingers)
Five brown buns with sugar on the top (use other hand to "sprinkle" over 5 fingers)
Along came a man (make a fist with thumb sticking up)
With a penny in his hand ("walk" fist over to 5 fingers making a "click, clock" sound)
He took one bun, and off he ran! (touch one finger with the thumb of your other hand an put it down)
Repeat with 4, 3, 2, and 1 bun, then:
Five brown buns in the baker's shop
Five brown buns with sugar on the top
Along came a man
With a penny in his hand
He took one look, and off he ran!
Version 2:
Play as a game with more than five children, children "pay" for their buns pennies or plastic coins for felt or paper "buns"
My brown buns in a bakery box (keep buns in a pink box)
My brown buns are the best on the block.
Along came Ethan/Emily with a penny to pay (or "some money" if you don't have pennies)
He/she took one bun then he/she ran away.
