The Vashon Library, opens a new window will soon be open 7 days a week. Starting August 24, the library will have open hours from 11am to 6pm on Sundays. We hope you enjoy this additional day of library service!
Why is this change happening now?
Expanding hours reflects our values of equity, inclusion, and access to information. When identifying which library hours will expand, we consider the following factors:
- Community feedback
- Circulation
- Door counts
- Geography
Vashon Island was chosen largely for geographic reasons. The island's isolated nature makes it challenging for residents to access other libraries.
Will more libraries expand their open hours?
We plan to add more days of service to several other libraries in 2025 and 2026. We will announce more open hours when that information is available.
