Tracey Thompson joins KCLS as the new director of collection management services

The King County Library System (KCLS) welcomes Tracey Thompson as the new director of collection management services (CMS). She will lead the CMS team to manage the development, selection and purchasing of all library materials, in both physical and digital format. Thompson will assume the role on June 21, and will report to KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum.

Thompson is an accomplished leader with 16 years of experience working in libraries. She comes to KCLS from the Pierce County Library System where she most recently served as the collection manager. She has also worked at the Metropolitan Library System in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; New Mexico State University Library in Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Vogelweh Library at the Vogelweh Air Base in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Thompson graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in information and library science. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.

“Tracey has a wealth of experience in materials management, which makes her an ideal CMS director for a large public library system like ours,” stated KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. “We welcome her to KCLS, and look forward to her innovative leadership.”

“Libraries have changed and evolved to support and connect communities in ways we never imagined,” stated Thompson. “I am passionate about leveraging current and emerging technologies to increase patrons’ access to information, and I’m excited to start working with KCLS communities.”
