The Mercer Island Library will soon be open 7 days a week. Starting October 19, the library will have open hours from 11am to 6pm on Sundays. We hope you enjoy this additional day of library service!
Why is this change happening now?
Expanding hours reflects our values of equity, inclusion, and access to information. When identifying which library hours will expand, we consider the following factors:
- Community feedback
- Circulation
- Door counts
- Geography
We are grateful for the ample community feedback that helped spur the change. Mercer Island serves large populations of Jewish and Muslim patrons, some of whom can’t easily visit their library during other days of the week due to religious reasons.
Will more libraries expand their open hours?
We plan to add more days of service to several other libraries in 2025 and 2026. We will announce more open hours when that information is available.
