King County Library System (KCLS) will increase hours of operation for the second time this year. Most libraries started increasing hours on May 14 during the first phase of hours expansion. Starting on July 9, KCLS will increase hours at 15 more locations through July 16.
TheMost libraries will be open 6 to 7 days per week. Hours will vary by location. Patrons may find updated hours for each library on KCLS’ location page as the rollout progresses.
“Staff are looking forward to providing more opportunities for patrons to visit our community libraries,” said KCLS Director of Library Operations Cecie Streitman. “We have enjoyed welcoming patrons back with each expansion of hours since the pandemic started!”
State and public health mandates and guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic affected KCLS’ hours of operation and in-person services. KCLS reopened all library buildings to the public in July 2021. They have been steadily expanding open hours and in-person services ever since reopening.
