King County Library System (KCLS) will begin increasing hours of operation at most libraries. Hours will vary by location and the changes will be implemented in phases.
Starting May 14, theDuring the first phase of hours expansion this year, KCLS will increase hours at 27 libraries from May 14 to June 18. Library hours at other locations will increase gradually as KCLS hires more staff over the coming months. Patrons may find updated hours for each library on KCLS’ location page as the rollout progresses. KCLS will announce more dates and locations as the information becomes available.
“KCLS is looking forward to increasing hours once again, and seeing more and more patrons return to their community libraries,” stated KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. “We continue to address our patrons’ evolving needs, and we hope you enjoy having more access to our materials, services and resources.”
State and public health mandates and guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic affected KCLS’ hours of operation and in-person services. KCLS reopened all 50 library buildings to the public in July 2021, and they have been steadily expanding open hours and in-person services ever since.
