More than 1.4 million King County residents will discover all the ways that the King County Library System (KCLS) serves them with the launch of a new cable television program, “King County Reads,” on King County TV. The 30-minute, monthly show will air beginning May 2, 2018 on local KCTV Channel 22/322 HD.
“King County Reads” episodes will be taped at many of the 48 community libraries throughout the area. The program showcases topics related to reading, including author interviews, library programs, digital reading resources and book recommendations.
“We are so excited to partner with KCLS to bring stories and interviews about books, ideas and digital media,” says KCTV Station Manager James Burns. “King County TV’s goal is to bring you important regional information and connect you to our different communities. KCLS’ beautiful libraries truly are community centers and places to discover, learn and gain new knowledge.”
The show allows both KCLS and King County to reference the related services they offer its residents. For example, KCLS’ start up business workshops help teach aspiring entrepreneurs how to get a business license from King County, and the two organizations make it easy for citizens to drop off their King County ballots at drop boxes located at 16 KCLS locations, with more to come.
“We are truly delighted and honored to be part of this new cable television series,” said KCLS Library Director Lisa Rosenblum. “This partnership is an important public service, creating greater awareness of libraries as places for all people to meet, gather and learn in their own communities. The show also will allow residents to “check out” the Library System’s helpful services, informational resources, educational programs and events, and extensive print and digital collections–all freely available on a daily basis to anyone with a library card.”
Terry Tazioli is the host of the new program. He is currently a PR Specialist at the University Book Store in Seattle. Terry served as host for other public affairs shows focusing on reading, including, Washington State TVW’s programs, “Author’s Hour” and “Well Read.” Previous to that, Tazioli served as the Lifestyle and Travel Editor for The Seattle Times for more than 22 years.

“King County Reads” will air on KCTV Channel 22/322HD on Sundays at 7:30pm, Wednesdays at 9pm, and Fridays at 12pm.
