KCLS receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association

The prestigious and coveted award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting

The King County Library System (KCLS) is pleased to announce that it has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the second consecutive year.

The award represents a significant achievement. It reflects KCLS’ commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, KCLS must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:

  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communications device

There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA's website. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.

“KCLS is committed to the responsible, transparent and effective management of public resources,” stated KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. “We strive to provide the highest level of service with the resources we are entrusted with, and are honored to be recognized as a national leader in financial reporting and fiscal stewardship.”
