KCLS on track to reopen all library buildings by July 14

Mask requirements for fully vaccinated people and capacity limits have been lifted

The King County Library System (KCLS) advances to Phase 4 of its multiphase reopening plan today, June 30. KCLS will gradually reopen all remaining library buildings by July 14. KCLS currently offers modified in-building services at several libraries, contactless services at most locations, and online access to digital collections, programs and resources.

Following Gov. Jay Inslee’s Healthy Washington—Roadmap to Recovery and Safe Start guidelines, masks are no longer required in Phase 4 for staff and patrons who are fully vaccinated. Social distancing requirements and building capacity limits have also been lifted, allowing KCLS to operate at 100% capacity. KCLS will continue to monitor public health guidelines and implement health and safety protocols as needed.

“I am proud of the collective work we’ve done to get here, both in serving our communities during the pandemic, and in reopening our physical spaces,” stated KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. “We hope you enjoy having access to all KCLS libraries soon—welcome back!”

KCLS’ in-building services will be modified at first and expand over time. As KCLS increases building access, contactless services such as Curbside to Go will be phased out.
