KCLS among top five digital circulating libraries in the world

King County Library System (KCLS) patrons checked out 7,957,226 digital titles in 2022 through OverDrive, a digital reading platform used by KCLS. OverDrive’s statistics for stand-alone libraries identify KCLS as the second-highest digital circulating library in the U.S. and fourth in the world.

In another record-setting year, readers across the globe downloaded 555 million eBooks, audiobooks and digital magazines through OverDrive, reflecting a 10% increase in digital readership over 2021.

“KCLS’ digital downloads have reached historic levels once again,” stated KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. “We are inspired by our patron’s enthusiastic support for electronic readership, and we will continue to invest in the much-loved digital collection.”

A KCLS library card or eCard allows access to electronic materials, which include streaming films, eBooks, audiobooks, online magazines, research databases, student resources, small business resources and more.
