Kanopy Replaces Credits with Tickets on November 1

Kanopy is a streaming video service you can access with your library card. It offers thousands of popular movies and series. The way you check out streaming videos on Kanopy is changing on November 1.
 

What's Changing?

Currently, you have five credits to use per month. In November, you will receive ten tickets per month. You can use these tickets to check out titles. The number of tickets needed to borrow a title will vary. Every video will have a label stating the ticket value and viewing window duration. This will tell you how many tickets you need to borrow the title and how much time you will have to watch it.

  • To check out streaming videos on Kanopy, you need the following:

    • A KCLS library card in good standing
    • Internet access
    • For mobile devices, the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast, or Roku
    • For PC or Mac users, any current web browser (Supported browsers)
    • A Kanopy account (You can create a Kanopy account on the Kanopy login page.)

  • No, films cannot be downloaded to a computer or device; they only stream through the internet.

  • Kanopy works on a pay-per-checkout model, which means that the library system pays a small fee each time a title is checked out. Limiting checkouts helps us stay within our collection budget. 

    You do not need to use your monthly tickets to access Kanopy Kids content. 

  • Titles return automatically at the end of the lending period.
