Get Access to More Collections Through the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library 

The King County Library System offers accessible library services. Our patrons may also be eligible to access collections from the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL). Learn about what they offer, who is eligible to use them, how to apply, and how we can help. 

Collections 

Through WTBBL, you can borrow:

  • Audio, braille, and large print books that are delivered by mail. 
  • Digital audiobooks and braille books. These are downloadable to a smart phone or tablet through the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) Mobile app. 
  • Specialized playback equipment including Braille eReaders, Talking Book Players, and more. 

They can also provide services, such as readers' advisory, to help you find materials to borrow.

Eligibility

You're eligible if you have:

  • a temporary or permanent disability that prevents reading
  • a temporary or permanent disability that prevents holding the printed page.

Eligible individuals may be: 

  • Blind or DeafBlind.
  • Low vision. Examples include macular degeneration, cataracts, or glaucoma.
  • Physical disability. Examples include arthritis, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Cerebral Palsy, injury, illness, or surgery. 
  • Reading disability. Examples include dyslexia, dementia, traumatic brain injury.
