Announcing our 2020 Enumclaw Community Creators

Read about our 2020 Community Creators and their grand plans for Enumclaw!
In January, we invited residents of Enumclaw to share your suggestions for programs. We’re ready to celebrate your amazing ideas that bring us together!

Throughout the year, local librarians will work with winners to develop their projects. The Lafromboise Endowment and our Friends of the Enumclaw Library sponsor this project. We look forward to supporting their visions for a strong, connected community. Here are our 2020 Community Creators and their winning proposals.

Children’s Community Garden
Congratulations to our Community Creator: Anonymous by Request.
This Community Creator wants to bring a seasonal Children's Garden to the library. She’ll work with our Children’s Librarian to have it ready in time for summertime gardening. The garden supports early literacy and STEM for young children through hands-on learning.

My Grownup & Me Tea Party
Congratulations to our Community Creator: Elizabeth Van Hyning!
Elizabeth Van Hyning
Elizabeth will work with our Children's Librarian to host a Tea Party at the library. Children and their grownups will get to practice manners, sharing, and social courtesy. The My Grownup & Me Tea Party supports social development through celebratory, inter-generational play.

Piecing Together Our Enumclaw History
Congratulations to our Community Creator: John Sheridan!
John will work with our Teen Librarian to deliver a project that brings play to history. He'll create puzzles that highlight local historical landmarks in the past and present. The puzzles will be available in key community spaces around Enumclaw. People of all ages can discover more about our local history as they piece the past together. This project aims to create a meaningful and novel way for people to engage with our history.

Dungeons & Dragons for Teens and Adults
Congratulations to our Community Creator: Aaron Quezada!

Aaron Quezada

Aaron wants to connect with his fellow teens over a shared interest in Dungeons & Dragons. He’ll work with our Teen Librarian to kick off a series of Open Gaming Halls with a day-long D&D Bootcamp. This series supports storytelling, social gameplay, facilitation skills, and D&D fun.
