Brightly colored balloons bobbed on an incoming breeze as the Newcastle Library doors opened December 2 to begin our fifth-birthday celebration. “Happy Birthday Library!” one young patron exclaimed after being told about the birthday party.
Marking five years in the community gives us a chance to reflect. We look back, grateful for the strong ties we’ve developed with local organizations like the Coal Creek YMCA, Newcastle Chamber of Commerce, Newcastle Arts Council, Newcastle Trails and the Newcastle Historical Society. We love working with our local businesses, City Hall, and schools. We especially enjoy connecting with every single person that walks through our front doors. The common thread running through all these interactions is a single word with a powerful meaning – community.
Community is what we felt all day at our fifth Birthday Celebration. People connected all day long in our library through talking, singing, decorating cupcakes, coloring, putting a puzzle together and taking it apart. Smiling faces tell us how glad they are to have this place to gather, laugh and learn. We are proud to be that place in your neighborhood that can inspire you through ideas, interaction and information.
We’re so happy to be a part of this incredible community. Thank you for welcoming us into your family. We're looking forward to the next five years, Newcastle!
