What is Welcoming Week?
How can you participate?
At Your Library:
At your library, we love to create meaningful connections among our growing and diverse communities. What better way to do that than with a bunch of awesome programs? Check these out:
Visit the Welcoming Center at Kent Library, a place for immigrants, refugees, and new arrivals. Visit one of our Welcoming Ambassadors for information and services. They can help with education, employment, health, housing, naturalization, and transportation. They also have English classes, World Language Story Times, family programs, legal clinics, and more!
Additionally, libraries across the King County Library System are hosting Welcoming Week events. Visit this page for a full list of what's happening at libraries in your area!
PLUS, look out for book displays at your local library that can give you even more to explore on this topic. Or, check out this list of Welcoming Week Reads that our librarians put together for the occasion!
On the internet:
Hashtags! During Welcoming Week, celebrate on social media with the hashtags #WelcomingWeek and #IWelcome.
You can also support Welcoming Week by using a fun Facebook profile photo frame. (Go to facebook.com/profilepicframes and search for "Welcoming America.")
In Your Community:
The library is not the only organization hosting Welcoming Week events. Visit the Welcoming America website. At the bottom of the page, you'll see events going on near you!
Download and print out your own Welcomer sign. Spread the word, share your story, and welcome your neighbors (like our staff in the photos below)!
