Fiestas! Let’s get ready for school!

How can I help my children prepare for school? It’s easy! Come to the KCLS Fiestas program! The goal of the Fiestas Early Literacy Parties in Spanish program is to help parents and caregivers of preschool age children help prepare their children for kindergarten. This program is free and offered entirely in Spanish.

Fiestas workshops are run for eight consecutive weeks and address eight different topics related to early literacy:

  1. The importance of bilingualism
  2. Speaking
  3. Playing
  4. Singing
  5. Letters and sounds
  6. Reading
  7. Writing
  8. The school system in the United States

What happens at each party?

At each Fiesta workshop you will be given information on each different early literacy topic. You will also learn songs, reading techniques and do craft activities. In addition, each family will receive a free children's book in Spanish for each Fiesta they attend, thanks to the generous support of the KCLS Foundation.

Do I need to attend all the workshops?

It is not necessary to attend every week but you will receive a certificate of attendance if you are able to attend 4 or more workshops.

Do I need to register?

You do not need to register but space is limited. Fiestas workshops are first come first served and are very popular, so please arrive early.

Can I bring my children?

The whole family is welcome. Parents, grandparents, teachers and children will learn interactively and dynamically at the Fiestas workshops. What’s more, Fiestas workshops are also wonderful opportunities to meet and socialize with other families. Please note: Children are welcome to attend but we are not able to provide childcare. Parents or guardians are responsible for their children at all times.
