History

  • 1922: Parent-Teachers Association and Pre-School Circle raise funds for a library
  • 1923: Enumclaw's first library opens in City Hall
  • 1928: Library moves into a home bequeathed by Mary Fell Stevenson Yerxa at the corner of Myrtle and Wells
  • 1953: House is razed and replaced by a concrete block building
  • 1954: Opening of 5,000-square-foot library, largely funded by a $20,000 bond issue.
  • 1963: Scholtfeldt Family Pioneer Room addition is completed
  • 1983: New library is incorporated into the Town Center plan at the Burlington Northern right-of-way
  • 1987: Richard R. Lafromboise Memorial Fund is established
  • 1990: Groundbreaking for a new 10,000-square-foot library, funded by a bond issue
  • 1991: Opening of the current Enumclaw Library building
  • 2012: Annexed to KCLS
