- 1937: The Women's Progress Club of McKinley Hill change their name to The Wednesday Study Club and pass a motion to sponsor a library with just $4.85 in the treasury
- 1937: A $351.93 216-square-foot library (built in just one week) opens at the corner of South 120th and Des Moines Way South
- 1943: Boulevard Park is one of the first libraries to join KCLS
- 1960s: The Wednesday Study Club plans a larger library
- 1971: Opening of the expanded, 6,536 square-foot library
