The interior of the space has been demolished to pave the way for the new library build-out. Permit drawings have been started. Expected construction start date is late 2017 or early 2018.
The library re-opened August 11. This project was not a bond project, but when KCLS was offered an opportunity to create a larger library within the Southcenter Mall, it did so. The library space is 1,700 square feet larger than the previous space, for a total of 5,000 square feet.
Fivedot Architects presented updated design plans at a second public meeting on June 15. KCLS anticipates bidding the project in the fall and starting work before the end of the year.
