Libraries Will be Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, December 24 and 25

All libraries will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. (Friday, December 24 and Saturday, December 25). You can still use some contactless and online services while we're closed. Find out how the holiday will impact services.

Customer Service

Ask KCLS staff will not be available by email, chat, or phone. These customer service channels will resume normal operation on Sunday, December 26.

Staff will not be available to respond to questions on our social media accounts. Customer service on social media will resume normal operation on Monday, January 3.

In-Building Visits

Library buildings will not be open on Friday, December 24, or Saturday, December 25. In-building services will not be available. 

Library buildings are not open for visits on Sundays or Mondays. If your library is open for visits on Tuesdays, hours will resume on Tuesday, December 28.

Redmond Ridge Library Express will be open for self-serve hold pickup. You'll be able to scan or type your library card at the secure entry to enter the building. You'll also be able to return items to the book drop.

Curbside Pickup

Curbside pickup ended when all libraries reopened in July. Curbside pickup is no longer available at any location.


Lockers are available as a hold pickup option at select library locations. Lockers are available 24/7. If your holds are ready to be collected from a locker, you can pick them up on the holiday.


Book drops and Self-Check-in stations will be open on the holiday. You can return items to any book drop while we are closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Please note that staff will not be available to clear book drops if they fill up while we're closed. Find a book drop or Self-Check-in station near you.

Events and Programs

No library events are scheduled on Friday, December 24 or Saturday, December 25.

Digital Access

You will continue to have access to your online account and digital collections. You can download eBooks, stream music and movies, and more.
