Sitting Still? Not on Preschool Fitness Day!

Today, January 27, 2017 is National Preschool Fitness Day! And what better way to celebrate than "read" some good books? That's just what we did at Family Story Time today.

Starting with Hop, Hop, Jump! by Lauren Thompson We stood up, sat down, stretched, wiggled, waggled, and of course hopped and jumped. This book has large colorful pictures showing lots of diverse children having a great time getting fit.

For the animal lovers, Stretch by Doreen Cronin (also available as an eBook) has the best dog fitness trainer I've ever seen! This time we stretched to the ceiling and the floor and I noticed children are a lot more flexible than I am!

Next came Clap your Hands by Lorinda Bryan Cauley. This book combines animals and children clapping, crawling spinning, making faces, and doing many other fun things. Again, this one is full of colorful illustrations and diverse children.

If those didn't give you enough exercise, here are some of the other things we did in story time today: Shake My Sillies Out, Bend and Stretch, Walking, Walking.

Have fun reading and exercising with your preschooler today and everyday!
