It’s that time of year again! Time to grab your blankets and your low backed chairs, and head to the park for a movie. There are movies closer to home than you would think. KCLS Friends to the North:
Movies at Marymoor (Redmond)
This is a family-friendly venue, and dog-friendly, too!! The movies will be playing in McNair Field within Marymoor Park (6046 W Lake Sammamish Road). Gates open at 6:30 pm and movies start at dusk. Event entry is $5 per person, at the event. Five and under is free. There will be event entertainment, vendors, activities, and prize raffles. See the Movies @ Marymoor event site for a complete list of the entertainers and food trucks that will be in attendance. FYI: King County now charges $5 per car for parking at this event. Carillon Point Outdoor Movie Nights (Kirkland)
Carillon Point Outdoor Movie Nights return! Come down early, set up your chair and blanket, then relax and enjoy a late night movie on a huge screen overlooking Lake Washington. All proceeds from the evening will benefit Hopelink, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency to all members of the community. Movies will start at dusk. The plaza will open 1 hour prior to dusk for seating. There will be some seating available but we recommend low, easy-to-carry chairs or bean bags. Crossroads Movies in the Park (Bellevue): This August, Crossroads is partnering with the City of Bellevue Parks & Recreation to bring you a four-week movie series on the lawn at Crossroads Park. Each week will feature a family-friendly movie with family activities beginning at 7:30 pm. Movies begin at dusk (around 9 pm) and are shown under the stars on a huge, 40-foot inflatable screen with a state-of-the-art projection and sound system. Movies are FREE! Bellevue Downtown Park (Bellevue): The Summer Outdoor Movies in the Park are back and ready to make a splash at the new Downtown Park located! Parks & Community Services has partnered with Charles Schwab to bring back this eight-week movie series every Tuesday night (July 11 to August 29) at the Downtown Park. Join your friends and family for a night of FREE pre-movie entertainment, FREE popcorn, and FREE admission. The series also features eight non-profit agencies, one per week, which the audience can participate in by donating to the many programs and services the agency provides our community-in-need. Free family movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen in Mercerdale Park (77th SE & SE 32nd). Participants should bring blankets, lawn chairs, and flashlights. Appalachia’s 2015 Coal/Railroad Days Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29 through Saturday, August 1. A new event, movie night, will feature the 1980 film Coal Miner’s Daughter at 6 pm in the Appalachian Towers ballroom. Some of the movie was filmed in the now-gone coal camp of Pardee. Ever watch a movie out in left field? In celebration of Fairwood’s 50th Anniversary, Alaska Airlines is hosting a free movie night in Petrovisky Park’s baseball field! Doors open at 6:00 pm so bring your blankets, low backed chairs, and a picnic and enjoy the park until the movie starts once it’s dark around 8:30 pm. But before it starts there will be plenty to see, learn, and eat! Food truck vendors will be selling food starting at 6:00 pm.
