The weather has turned a bit chilly, and fall is in the air. This means the return of Washington salmon to local waters! To welcome our fishy friends home, we will be celebrating them and their spawn at the Issaquah Salmon Days Festival 2017. This wonderful festival runs October 7-8 and is free to all visitors.
Music & Entertainment
There will be free all day concerts Saturday and Sunday, on three separate stages. The Grand Parade will commence at 10 am on Saturday, and there will be a carnival (beginning Friday at 3 pm) complete with kid’s rides and scary ones for adults.
Food & Activities
If you are the athletic type, participate in the "Run with the Fishes 5K" and Kid's Dash. The race begins early Sunday morning, hosted by the Issaquah Rotary Foundation, and there is also a Kiwanis Club Salmon BBQ. In all this excitement, do not forget to visit the Field of Fun, featuring diving dogs and human hamster balls. And check out all the "Spawnsors," including our folks at the King County Library booth, and over forty vendors bringing you “Foods from Around the World.”
Use the time before the festival wisely to visit your local public library branch and brush up on your salmon knowledge before witnessing the homecoming of the little guys at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery during the festival. See you there!
Every fall the salmon return to Washington from their grueling journey at sea, to fight against the current and spawn in Washington's creeks.
