8 Kids’ Books to Look for in the New Year

Let's get excited for 2018, friends! I have eight new kidlit gems to look forward to in the new year:

1. We're getting a brand new Mo Willems picture book! This one's about the alphabet.

A Busy Creature's Day Eating

2. A fresh fractured fairy tale featuring everyone's favorite feminist hamster: Harriet

Hamster Princess

3. We'll discover even more animals who should definitely NOT wear clothing.

4. If you know a kid who liked last year's Triangle, go place your hold on the sequel: Square

Square

5. Feast your eyes on what looks to be a stunningly beautiful book from illustrator Loren Long and Newbery winner Matt de la Peña.

Love

6. Excuse me, did someone say DRAGON DOCTOR? (Komodo dragons, but still pretty cool, right?)

Joan Procter, Dragon Doctor

7.  I'm personally super excited about this one: the final book in the Penderwicks series!

Penderwicks at Last

8. Last year, The Wild Robot was the big winner of our local Mock Newbery. This year, we have a sequel!

The Wild Robot Escapes

All of these books are currently in "on order" status, which means the library doesn't have them yet. But you can place holds on them and be among the first to check them out when they arrive. To keep up with new items all year long, you can explore the KCLS catalog. And, of course, you can always ask a librarian to help you discover new and interesting reads for the new year.
