History

1920: Kent Public Library opens at the Red Cross Community Center

1922: Library moves into City Hall at Second and Grove

1926: Kent hires its first salaried librarian, Anna Fischer

1959: City contracts with KCLS for library staff and materials

1973: 15,000-square-foot library co-owned by the City and KCLS opens at Fourth and Titus

1991: Opening of new, 22,500-square-foot regional library

1993: KCLS annexation

2009: Completion of remodeling project
